Travis Sykora may be a year or two away from the major leagues.
But man oh man, the Washington Nationals right-handed pitching prospect is on his way.
He threw five innings on Thursday night for High-A Wilmington and was absolutely nasty.
Sykora allowed just two hits and struck out 10 while throwing 70 percent of his pitches for strikes and getting 23 swings-and-misses. According to reporter Chris Clegg, Sykora's fastball topped out at 99 while he also threw a strong slider and splitter.
He entered the night with a season ERA of 1.13 and lowered it with this dominant outing.

Sykora was the 71st overall pick in 2022 but has quickly proven himself among the best prospects in baseball.
MLB Pipeline currently ranks Sykora 58th in the sport.
The 6-foot-6 flamethrower is projected by MLB Pipeline to reach the majors in 2027.
The Nationals already have a talented young roster. If Sykora can get up just as their contention window opens to its widest point, it'll be a huge addition.
