National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to spur Ghana's transformation - Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister
The event, scheduled for July 1, 2025, coincides with Republic Day and will be observed annually following a declaration by President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service at the Church of Pentecost, Sakumono District-Sophia Cudjoe Temple, Minister Ibrahim emphasized that the day would foster national unity and divine intervention for Ghana’s prosperity.
“This Thanksgiving will transform Ghana, move the country forward, stabilize the cedi, and ensure President Mahama’s vision of resetting the national agenda continues to prosper,” he stated.
The celebration will be decentralized, with activities held across all 16 regions to encourage mass participation.
The Banda MP also took the opportunity to praise NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, whom he described as his “political godfather.”
“For nearly two decades, Chairman Asiedu-Nketia has guided me from being an MP to a parliamentary leader and now a Minister. His values have shaped my career,” he said.
In a sermon, Apostle Wilberforce Nkrumah Agyemang, Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, commended the Minister for his devotion to faith and public service.
“Prayer is the key to everything,” Apostle Agyemang stated, urging Ibrahim to remain steadfast in his duties. He also called on all Ghanaians to embrace the national prayer initiative, stressing its potential to bring divine favor to the nation.
With the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving set to become an annual event, the government aims to reinforce spiritual resilience alongside socio-economic development.
