Nancy Sinatra says Brian Wilson's music will be 'cherished forever' in tribute - NewsBreak
Nancy Sinatra has paid tribute to The Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson following his death at age 82.
Wilson, one of the most influential singer-songwriters in music history, achieved international success with The Beach Boys - which included his brothers Dennis and Carl, their cousin, Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston - thanks to hits such as Surfin' USA, I'm Not in Love, God Only Knows, and Good Vibrations.
His family confirmed his death on June 11 in a statement that read: "We are heartbroken to announced that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy."
After the news of Wilson's death broke, the These Boots Are Made for Walkin' singer shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute to the late musician.
"His cherished music will live forever as he travels through the Universe and beyond," Sinatra, 85, wrote on the social media platform, alongside a photo of Wilson with his arm wrapped around her in what appeared to be a recording studio. "God bless you, sweet Brian."

Frank Sinatra's daughter added: "One of the biggest thrills of my life was singing 'California Girls' with Brian."
Sinatra and Wilson initially met at Wilson's 60th birthday party at the Mulholland Grill in Bel Air (per People).
In an interview with Wilson's website, the Somethin' Stupid artist revealed she was a "big fan" of Wilson because the music was "so refreshing."
"It came along at a really good time," Sinatra said. She also noted that both she and her fellow singer were shy when they met.
"But I mean there was nobody more generous than Brian," she said. "With Brian, if I need him, he's there. If it's in my house or on stage or wherever, he's just a very giving kind."
The pair later collaborated on the track California Girls, which was featured on Sinatra's 2022 album California Girl.
Wilson's fellow rock stars have also paid tribute to him following his death, including The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr, who wrote on his Instagram alongside an old snap of them together: "God bless Brian Wilson. Peace and love to all his family. Ringo."
Founding member of the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Fleetwood Mac's drummer Mick Fleetwood, Elton John and more musicians have shared their grief following the death of Wilson.
Fleetwood wrote on Instagram that "anyone with a musical bone in their body must be grateful for" Wilson's "genius magical touch."
He added he was "greatly saddened of this major worldly loss," and "My thoughts go out to his family and friends."
In an Instagram post of the two, the Rocket Man singer remembered Wilson as someone who "was always so kind to me from the day I met him."
"He sang 'Someone Saved My Life Tonight' at a tribute concert in 2003, and it was an extraordinary moment for me," he wrote. "I played on his solo records, he sang on my album, The Union, and even performed for my AIDS Foundation."
John wrote he grew to love Wilson "as a person, and for me, he was the biggest influence on my songwriting ever."
"He was a musical genius and revolutionary," John wrote on Instagram. "He changed the goalposts when it came to writing songs and shaped music forever. A true giant."
Richards took to Instagram to share a page from his 2010 memoir, in which he recalled listening to Wilson's "very well-constructed" songs. He captioned the post: "Rest in Peace!"
"Heard the sad news about Brian today and thought about all the years I've been listening to him and admiring his genius," wrote Bob Dylan on X. "Rest in peace dear Brian."
Wilson's fellow founding Beach Boys members also paid tribute. Al Jardine, best known as the band's rhythm guitarist and occasionally singing lead vocals, called Wilson "my friend, my classmate, my football teammate, my Beach Boy bandmate and my brother in spirit."
"I will always feel blessed that you were in our lives for as long as you were," he wrote in a statement shared with USA TODAY on Wednesday. "I think the most comforting thought right now is that you are reunited with Carl and Dennis, singing those beautiful harmonies again. You were a humble giant who always made me laugh and we will celebrate your music forever."
Jardine concluded: "Brian, I'll really miss you...still I have the warmth of the sun within me tonight."
