Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a murder suspect in the Menengai area.

In a statement on Monday, June 23, DCI announced the arrest of Lizz Njeri Mwangi over the murder of a 3-year-old girl, Margaret Wanjiru Kirathe.
The girl was found unconscious 50 metres from PCEA Shalom Mchanganyiko Church, but was pronounced dead on arrival at Kenlands Hospital.
"This is after officers received a disturbing report about a young child found unconscious approximately 50 meters from PCEA Shalom Mchanganyiko Church. Unfortunately, despite swift action, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kenlands Hospital," DCI said.
According to DCI, the suspect, aged 17, lured the victim from the church and took her to a secluded place before killing her.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect reportedly lured little Margaret away from the church, leading her to a secluded place, where she strangled her using a piece of cloth. The motive, however, is yet to be established," the statement added.
Detectives carried out an operation after reviewing CCTV footage and arrested Lizz at her residence in Judea Village within Kiamaina Ward.
The officers recovered clothes that the suspect wore during the commission of the offence, as captured on the CCTV footage.
"Acting on intelligence, officers launched an operation that led to Lizz Njeri Mwangi's arrest at her residence in Judea Village, Menengai Sub-Location, within Kiamaina Ward. Upon arrest, officers recovered the clothes the suspect wore during the commission of the offence as captured on CCTV, as well as the piece of cloth used to commit the heinous act," detectives narrated.
Lizz is currently in custody, where she is undergoing processing pending arraignment for murder.

Citizen TV reported that Dennis Kipkoech, a Grade One pupil at Benedict Kaptich Primary School, was last seen on Wednesday, May 7, when he was reported missing.
His mother, Scholastica Jesang, broke down as she recalled the last time she saw her son.
The grieving mother vividly described preparing him for school and sending him off, watching him walk down the footpath and disappear into the sugarcane plantation. Little did she know, it would be the last time she would see him alive.
