Nablah: NPP disunited and expected defeat in the 2024 elections

Madam Janet Nablah, the National Chairman of the People's National Party (PNP), has stated that the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) defeat, along with that of its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was anticipated. She pointed to the Assin North by-election as the initial indicator of their impending loss.

Nablah remarked that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) demonstrated considerable strength and dedication during the by-election. In contrast, she characterized the NPP's approach as cowardly, extending from the constituency level to the national leadership. She asserted that the NPP entered the elections with significant internal divisions.

According to Nablah, the NPP failed to adequately resolve its internal disputes and unify its members in pursuit of victory. She emphasized the obvious disunity within the party, stating, "Dr. Bawumia's defeat was unsurprising. The NPP's defeat was expected. The signs of their defeat began with the Assin North by-election."

Nablah elaborated on the significance of the by-election, explaining, "The by-election revealed the NPP's problem. The NDC became emboldened and won the by-election, while the NPP gave up before the fight was over. There was something wrong; the NPP lacked energy, so losing the election was unsurprising."

She further highlighted the lack of unity within the NPP, noting, "The party was also not united. They were differences that they failed to address. Members were aggrieved, but the NPP and its leader, the presidential candidate, did not show any interest in addressing the challenges. They were so disunited, and you cannot win in an election when you are not united."
