Fuji music veteran, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has revealed that his late mother, Alhaja Halima Anifowoshe, was not just his biggest influence but also served as his composer during her lifetime.

In a video that surfaced online on Tuesday morning, the music icon shared how his mother’s voice, passion and talent helped shape his own path as a musician.

He said, “My mother taught me the rudiment of singing. My mother as a young maiden lady was a singer, a princess by birth that was denied the opportunity of showing dexterity in music because of what she was, a princess of a sitting king and a woman whom they want her to settle in marriage, but everything was transported on me by God. He transferred it to me and oftentimes, she served as my composer very much during her lifetime. She made her own contribution to my music development.”

The clip comes barely five months after K1 announced the death of his mother in January 2025.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of King Wasiu Ayinde’s beloved mother. May her soul rest in peace, Alhaja Alimotu Shadiya Omoakeredolu Aya Anifowoshe. Iya rere. Sun re oo,” the message read, accompanied by a photo of K1 and his late mother.

The tribute is part of his new project, “Gànúṣì: The Album Music Classical”, where the singer blends personal reflection with cultural storytelling, earning praise for both his vulnerability and his sound.
