Murang'a: Body of Man Who Died of 2 Cancers Held in Morgue for 1 Month Over KSh 270k Bill

: A family in Gatanga is devastated as their brother has been lying at the mortuary for a month after he died because of a KSh 270,000 hospital bill.

On May 21, the Murang'a family that fought gallantly for their son with two types of cancer announced his death. Sam and his siblings are orphans.

Sam passed away on May 20, and philanthropist Karangu Muraya asked Kenyans to help the family raise KSh 300,000.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Sam's sister, identified as Angeline, confirmed that things were bad for them and they were not sure that they would be able to bury their brother.

"I am feeling so ashamed that the body of my friend Sam from Gatanga has been lying in the morgue for the last month, just because of the hospital bill of KSh 270,000. Initially, the bill was KSh 700,000 but SHA paid KSh 300,000. Sam's family and friends were able to raise KSh 100,000," said philanthropist Karangu Muraya.
"I have been avoiding to update about him, don't insult me, but after receiving so many calls and messages from the family, I just posted. Let's help this family to lay their son to rest. Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital, please hear my request and release the body of Sam," he added.

In another story, Samuel Mwangi, aka Sam, who was suffering from terminal brain cancer, asked to return home and spend time with his family.

Led by Mwangi's colleague Tracey Stow, netizens raised KSh 2.4 million to bring the ailing man to Kenya.

He was supposed to have a caregiver and a doctor during the journey. Tracey also said that the remaining amount would be given to his family os that they would be cushioned against the challenges.
