Kotoko got off to the perfect start in the 13th minute, with winger Saaka Dauda scoring a well-hit strike after pouncing on a quick throw-in from Patrick Asiedu.

The early goal raised hopes among the home fans that it would be a routine win for the Porcupine Warriors.

However, True Democracy had other plans, containing Kotoko’s attacking threats and creating their own chances to test the defense. Mohammed Camara made a key save, denying a well-struck low shot as True Democracy pressed for an equalizer.

The game was end-to-end, with Kotoko coming close to doubling their lead when Asiedu's shot narrowly missed the target following some good work from Ntim Manu on the left.

Despite the pressure from True Democracy, Kotoko went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw Kotoko struggle to break down True Democracy's defense, and the game took a turn when True Democracy leveled the score with a deflected free-kick.

In response, Kotoko manager Prosper Ogum made a double substitution, bringing on Tenadu and Baba Yahaya for Justice Blay and Emmanuel Antwi, in an attempt to find a breakthrough.

Just as the match seemed destined for a penalty shootout, Kwame Opoku pounced on a loose ball just outside the box and fired it past the goalkeeper to secure the win for Kotoko.
