MRT-7 2025 Update: North EDSA to Sacred Heart leg to open in 2027

After an inspection at the Batasan Station in Quezon City earlier this week, the DOTr confirmed that 12 out of the 14 stations—North EDSA to Sacred Heart in Novaliches—will start moving commuters in 2027. The agency did not comment on the status of the Tala Station in Novaliches or the San Jose Del Monte Station in Bulacan, which will also house a depot for the trains. With all 14 stations running, the 22km long MRT-7 train line should be able to accommodate 600,000 passengers daily, with interchanges for the EDSA Busway, the LRT-1 and MRT-3 lines, and other essential public transportation systems.

The Batasan Station in Quezon City is almost complete at the time of the DOTr inspection. Its turnstile gates, ticket counters, and train platforms are ready for use.

Construction of the MRT-7 train began on April 20, 2016, with its original partial completion date marked for 2021.

The DOTr is working to adopt a more seamless cashless payment system across Metro Manila’s train lines, which the agency expects to implement in July.

The operators of the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 have also launched the ‘Pamilya Pass’ for commuting families and groups. On Sundays, commuters can buy four tickets for the price of one, and this offer is available until December 31, 2028, or the last Sunday of 2028.
