A motorcyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash in Grimsby on Saturday afternoon, Humberside police said.

Officers said a pillion passenger also sustained serious injuries and was receiving treatment in hospital.

The force said a blue Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling along Heneage Road towards Welholme Road at about 14:20 BST when it was involved in a collision with a BMW near to the junction with David Street.

Police said emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the BMW was checked over at the scene for what were thought to be minor injuries.
