Mohamed Salah in Tears As PSG Eliminate Liverpool From Champions Legaue

Published 1 week ago2 minute read

Mohamed Salah was inconsolable following Liverpool's exit from the Champions League on Tuesday, March 11.

The Reds lost the match 1-0 in regular and extra time, and in the penalty shoot-out to Paris Saint-Germain.

Désiré Doué struck the winning penalty by sending a brilliant PSG side that was dominant in both legs.

Their goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, was the hero in the shootout. He saved spot kicks from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones to help his side win 4-1.

Vitinha, brilliant all night, Gonçalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembélé and Doué scored their penalties.

Salah scored his penalty but it wasn't their night. The Egyptian, whose contract ends this season, was visibly heartbroken. It remains to be seen if he will be around next season to attempt to win it.

His performance in both legs was criticised and will now have to focus on winning the Premier League.

"They in the end won and for us, it is so, so, so unlucky if you are No.1 in the league table that you then face Paris Saint-Germain, which is one of the best teams in Europe, but that’s the format we are in. We have to accept it and we will come back stronger next season," Liverpool boss Arne Slot said.
