Modi demands 'free from biases' AI
(MENAFN) At the AI Action Summit in Paris, co-chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi emphasized the need for artificial intelligence systems to be built with unbiased data sets, ensuring trust and transparency. He advocated for the democratization of AI technology, stressing the importance of local ecosystems and open-source systems.
Modi also addressed concerns regarding cybersecurity, disinformation, and deep fakes while underscoring the positive potential of AI in job creation. He expressed optimism that AI could bring benefits to the workforce, despite its challenges.
Highlighting the global shift towards AI, Modi referenced the success of Chinese startup DeepSeek, which has made AI more accessible with its open-source model. He emphasized that AI should be available to all, particularly in the Global South, where limited resources hinder access to technology.
India is working on developing its own open-source AI tool, supported by a public-private partnership, and expects to launch the model in the coming months. Modi also shared plans to invest over $1 billion in acquiring essential components like Graphics Processing Units to support the AI sector.
