A film adaptation of the viral internet series Skibidi Toilet is officially in the works, with Michael Bay set to direct it.
Production is being handled by Invisible Narratives, a media company where Bay serves as chief creative advisor. The company was founded by former Paramount Pictures head Adam Goodman. The Skibidi Toilet film is among the studio’s active projects.
Talks about a possible Skibidi Toilet film began in 2024. The company has now released a press statement confirming that the project is moving ahead. Bay is working on the film with Academy Award-nominated production designer Jeffrey Beecroft. The team also includes Rob Legato, a three-time Oscar winner known for his work on Titanic, Avatar, and The Jungle Book.
The announcement describes the project as “an early creative take on the franchise,” aiming to bring “Bay’s signature visual intensity to one of the internet’s most unlikely breakout IPs.” The film is still in early development and has been in the works since last summer.
Taking it to Instagram, Bay shared a reel teasing the upcoming film.
The Skibidi Toilet franchise has crossed 35 billion views across platforms, according to the press release.
Skibidi Toilet started as 11-second short animated videos shared by a Georgia-based animator using Valve’s Source Filmmaker. The first video, showing a head coming out of a toilet, went viral in 2023 and became popular among younger audiences. The series also started a debate, with some arguing that its strange visuals and violent content might not be suitable for children.
It’s still unclear whether the film will be animated, live-action, or a mix of both. No cast or release date has been announced yet. The studio says more updates will be shared on the Skibidi Toilet official website.
