Met Eireann: STATUS YELLOW warnings issued to three counties amid risk of flooding

Met Eireann has issued status yellow rain warnings for three counties in Ireland amid heavy rain and very strong winds warning.

Rain warnings have been issued for Galway, Mayo and Kerry set to come into effect on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon and evening.

This will bring "heavy rain with very strong, gusty southerly winds near the coast," according to Met Eireann.

Possible impacts are localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

The status yellow weather warnings are valid from 2pm to 10pm on Monday June 2.

On Sunday June 1 the weather will be breezy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.

Highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.

On Monday June 1, the forecast predicts that "it will start mostly dry with sunny spells and isolated showers. Rain will develop in the west in the early afternoon and spread eastwards through the late afternoon and evening, turning heavy with spot flooding possible. Becoming windy also with fresh to strong, gusty southerly winds and with gales along the west coast. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees."

On Tuesday June 3, Met Eireann has said it will be breezy with a mix of sunny spells and showers. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.

Showers are to continue into Tuesday night and will be heaviest and most frequent in the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.

The rain is set to continue as the week goes on with unsettled weather, showers and spells of rain, Met Eireann has said.
