MBA to Executive Strategist: How Megan Manno Launched Her Career Through Raymond James' A2C Program - Business 360°
The Assistant to the Chair (A2C) Executive Strategist, Office of the CEO program was established at Raymond James in 1991. The A2C program offers high-performing, self-motivated individuals the opportunity to acquire and hone the management and leadership skills necessary to succeed at the highest levels of the firm. Throughout the two-year program, A2C Strategists learn from some of the most respected minds in the financial services industry and regularly participate in senior-level management sessions. Megan Manno, MBA graduate from Vanderbilt, describes her experience.
Can you share how the A2C experience helped shape your career journey?
The A2C experience gave me early exposure to executive-level conversations and strategic problem-solving. Presenting directly to C-suite leaders challenged me to think critically, communicate clearly, and back recommendations with real impact. It reinforced my excitement to be in a strategic role where I could operate at the intersection of analysis and influence.
What pivotal moment in your career led you to embrace a new opportunity at Raymond James?
At previous employers, I had the opportunity to influence strategy, whether by leading executive demos that shaped key purchasing decisions or by analyzing global cost structures that informed forward-looking planning. However, as I began my MBA at Vanderbilt, I felt a growing pull to deepen that impact. I wanted to work on high-stakes initiatives that touched firm-wide direction. That drive led me to the A2C program at Raymond James, where I could contribute meaningfully alongside senior leadership from day one.
What would your advice be to someone interested in applying for the A2C program?
Be curious and prepared to learn quickly. A2C places you in rooms where thoughtful questions matter just as much as having the right answer. Additionally, know your strengths, but also be open to feedback. If you’re hungry to grow and want to contribute meaningfully from day one, this program will give you that platform.
How would you describe the core business of Raymond James? What is the primary mission of your role within the company?
Raymond James is a diversified financial services firm with a strong commitment to advisor-centered growth, integrity, and long-term relationships. My role in the A2C Program focused on strategic initiatives that support advisor success and business sustainability, ranging from evaluating new segments to enhancing profitability. The mission was clear: equip leaders with insights to drive smart, people-first growth.
What are the essential qualities needed to succeed or get the most out of the A2C program?
Self-direction, humility, and strong communication are essential. You’ll be trusted with real work, so take ownership, ask good questions, and build relationships. Finally, do not underestimate the value of kindness and professionalism.
