May Edochie never wrote Yul an apology letter - Lawyer

Published 4 days ago2 minute read

May Edochie’s lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, has dismissed reports claiming the mother of four wrote an apology letter to her estranged husband, actor Yul Edochie.

In a video posted online, Ugwuonye described the letter as fake and insisted May has no reason to apologise to Yul, who publicly took actress Judy Austin as a second wife in 2022.

“There is nothing like that,” he said.

“May has no reason to apologise, she was the one who filed for the divorce. Yul had the opportunity to fight for a counterclaim, but he didn’t do that. As it is today, Yul wants polygamy.”

Ugwuonye added that May is focused on her legal battle, including a divorce and a lawsuit demanding N100 million in damages for alleged adultery.

“May is continuing to pursue her divorce proceedings and her case for damages related to adultery,” he said.

“These false claims about apology appear to be a desperate attempt to create a narrative when other efforts have failed. May did NOT issue any apology. It was Yul who chose polygamy, and it was Yul who previously apologized. If anyone should be offering apologies, it would be Yul. However, any such apology would not alter the current legal situation. Please disregard these false claims being circulated. There has been no apology from May, nor has she ever considered offering one.”

The controversy comes amid the couple’s ongoing separation, which began after Yul introduced Judy Austin as his second wife and revealed they had welcomed a child together.

May, who has maintained silence on most of the drama, filed for divorce in 2023 and has continued to receive public support on social media.

Some netizens believe the alleged apology letter was an attempt to influence public perception in Yul’s favour.

A Facebook user Tina Sey, claimed, “This started long ago by Yul using his d.entertainment burner account asking May to apologize to him publicly…”

Another Ngozi Becky, wrote, “My prayer now, is that the court process will hasten up. If they can go to this extent to draft an apology letter on Queen May’s behalf they can’t be trusted.”

Yul and May were married for over 17 years before their fallout. They lost their first son, Kambilichukwu, in March 2023, months after Yul married Judy Austin traditionally.

Yul has yet to publicly respond to the denial of the apology letter.
