Margaret Cho is reflecting on her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.
The stand-up comedian, 56, spoke about DeGeneres, 67, during her appearance on The Kelly Mantle Show podcast, first describing the former TV host as "somebody that I'd known for such a long time."
"It's so weird now, [the] public perception of her is more true to ... she's mean," Cho then told host Kelly Mantle. "She was like a mean girl, kind of, but also she would be real nice."
"I think she always had negative feelings toward me because her girlfriends and wives always liked me. ... There's a kind of woman [who] loves a female comic," Cho added. "... But yeah, Ellen was really weird, and not nice to me for most of my career."
Representatives for DeGeneres did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on Sunday, June 22.

Cho said she opened for DeGeneres "way before her big fame," when the Finding Nemo star would headline comedy clubs in the 1980s. She explained that things felt different between them when she would appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the 2000s.
"She acted like we just met," Cho said. "And I'm like, 'B----, what?' That's weird. We go way back."
Cho also said DeGeneres once had David Bowie as a guest on her talk show, and she claimed that the comedian "cut" a portion of their interview where the late musician raved about her. (Bowie appeared on Ellen in April 2004, around the time of his performance at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre.)

"It's so creepy and weird, but also, the other thing was, David Bowie had been on the show, and he was so excited that the night before that, I had come to his show wearing this giant Chinese emperor outfit," Cho said. "He was really thrilled about it, and he talked at length about it. And she cut it out of the show, which made me so mad."
"The producer, who's a really good friend of mine, had to call me and tell me, 'I can't believe she did this, but she cut it out of the show. You need to know that he was going on and on about your outfit. He loves you,' " she continued to allege, recalling more about the alleged conversation she had with the behind-the-scenes personnel.
Cho added: "I don't know if it was personal, maybe it was for time. But still, I'm gonna take it personally because I decided to."
DeGeneres, who ended her eponymous talk show in May 2022, appeared in her final Netflix comedy special Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval in September 2024.
During the program, she explained how the toxic workplace allegations made against her affected her mental health.
DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, later relocated from the U.S. after finding a home in the English countryside.
