Many injured as vehicles collide on 3rd Mainland Bridge

Several passengers sustained injuries on Monday following a serious accident involving a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus, commonly referred to as Danfo, on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The crash occurred shortly before Adekunle Junction, heading towards Lagos Island. Eyewitnesses reported that the commercial bus somersaulted several times after the collision, resulting in multiple injuries.

In a statement issued by the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, RRS, it was confirmed that no fatalities were recorded.

Operatives from the RRS, including motorbike and patrol teams, arrived swiftly at the scene to administer first aid and assist the injured.

Officers from the Adekunle Police Division also responded promptly, working alongside emergency responders to ensure the safe evacuation of victims and provide rescue support.

The RRS statement read in part:
“A road traffic accident involving a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus (Danfo) occurred before Adekunle Junction, inward Lagos Island, leaving several passengers injured. The bus reportedly somersaulted multiple times after the collision.

“RRS bikers and patrol vehicles were deployed to administer first aid, while personnel from the Adekunle Police Division are also on the ground, supporting the rescue operation.

“Emergency response teams have been mobilised. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the incident.”

The affected vehicles were later removed from the road, resulting in restoration of normal vehicular movement.
