A middle-aged man, identified as Esosa Imasuen, has allegedly killed his wife, Chinwedu Nnadoze, following a misunderstanding between them.
It was gathered that the incident happened in the Ogbelaka area of Benin City, Edo State, when the suspect assaulted his wife and inflicted injuries on her.
She was reportedly rushed to the hospital, where she was said to have been diagnosed to be having internal bleeding, allegedly as a result of the beating.
The father of the deceased, Everistus Nnadoze, who spoke on the incident, said he was told that his son-In-law, Esosa Imasuen, had beaten his daughter and left her with bruises.
“They said he took her to the hospital where a doctor was said to have carried out some tests on her, and the result showed that she had internal bleeding,” the man narrated.
He said his daughter later gave up at the hospital before he could even reach there, adding that he has not been able to see her corpse.
He said on getting to the hospital, he was told that the suspect had taken her corpse to an undisclosed mortuary.
He said, ‘’I went to his house but they said he had absconded.”
The bereaved father said he had been calling him on the phone to come and show him the mortuary he took his daughter’s corpse to, but he had refused to show up.
When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Moses Yamu, a superintendent, said he had contacted many police stations in Benin and none of them had received such a report.
