A 50-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Ihuenuma, has been arrested by the operatives of the Edo State Police Command over alleged s3xual assault on a 15-year-old girl in Benin City. 

The suspect said to be the official driver attached to one of the Special Advisers to the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, was arrested by the police following a tip off from the father of the victim.

It was gathered that the suspect always looked for opportunity to fiddle with the teenager who lives with her parents whenever he came to the house on an errand.

Sources said the driver had touched the girl at different times in an indecent manner, trying to entice her. 

It was gathered that after several incidents, the girl reported the matter to her mother who eventually informed her father about it.

The father later reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said he would be thoroughly investigated and charged to court.

He advised members of the public to always report cases of rape, indecent assault and defilement to the police for immediate action.
