His memorial mass at All Saints Cathedral was attended by his friends, former colleagues, his wife and kids.
“I met my husband Leonard in 1965 while working as a cashier in CBD. We got to know each other to the extent of becoming friends. From the time we met, he approached and treated me with kindness; from then on, we loved each other. He always made me laugh and in 1970 we officialize'd our wedding and were blessed with three children. My husband loved his family and children but was a man who did not like conflict at all and while a public figure, kept our family safe from the limelight.
In 1982, when the attempted coup occurred in Kenya, I remember opening the door when the rebels knocked, everything happened so fast and at some point, I thought he was dead during the fracas. We thank God for Leonard being the voice that saved the government, resulting in the coup's failure. He has lived a blessed life loving people. When he fell sick, our son Jimmy became his primary caregiver and I am very thankful to him for that. We loved each other and I regret that sickness took him away. I am thankful to God for a life well lived and wish my husband rest even in death."
