A desperate search is underway to find a couple who vanished two days ago in crocodile-infested outback Australia.

Sarah and Kevin were last in contact with loved ones on Sunday while they were visiting Litchfield National Park, in the Northern Territory.

Friends and family have been unable to contact them since and believe they may have become bogged.

Police, local rangers, and a rescue helicopter are now scouring the area in hopes of finding the pair.

“Police received reports of the male and female being stuck due to flood waters within the park.,” a Northern Territory Police Force spokesperson said.

“They are believed to be travelling in a white Landcruiser.

“The Search and Rescue Section have deployed an aerial asset and are working with Batchelor Police and park rangers to investigate the matter.”

Litchfield National Park, located about 106km south of Darwin, is a popular tourism site, featuring waterfalls, sandstone plateaus, and rugged cliffs.

The area is home to saltwater crocodiles, who enter the park during the monsoonal season between October and April.

It is understood some roads within the national park close in the wet season, which runs from November to April, due to flooding, adding difficulty to the search.

Any information on the whereabouts of the pair can be provided to police on 131 444.
