Mahama Launches 'No Fees Stress' Friday; Apaak Hails Working Group
This comes ahead of the expected official launch of the ‘No Fees Stress’ initiative by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, July 4, 2025.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Saajida Shiraz, announced that as of Tuesday, July 1, loans had been successfully disbursed to 19,703 tertiary students, with priority given to those most in need.
This development comes just before the official launch of the ‘No Fees Stress’ initiative, scheduled for Friday, July 4.
The initiative is expected to mark a major shift in the government’s approach to financing tertiary education.
Commenting on the impending launch, the Deputy Minister for Education expressed his enthusiasm:
“JM will officially launch his No Fees Stress Policy tomorrow. On behalf of our hardworking Minister for Education and myself, I extend our gratitude to the No Fees Stress working group.
Trust John Dramani Mahama to deliver on his promises. The No Fees Stress Policy is active!” Dr. Apaak wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.
“The days when the Trust Fund approved students for loans it couldn’t disburse are over. The revamped SLTF is now working diligently every day to fulfill its mandate of providing timely financial support to students,” Ms. Shiraz stated.
The latest disbursement signals a renewed commitment by the SLTF to ensure consistent, fair, and efficient access to student funding, in line with broader efforts to promote educational equity and academic continuity.
