Lilian Ng'ang'a opens up on dating history

Lilian Ng’ang’a, the former First Lady of Machakos, recently shared insights into her past relationships during an interview on Dr. Ofweneke’s show. Known for her openness, Lilian discussed her experiences with dating, shedding light on how her relationships have evolved and the lessons she has learned along the way.

Lilian revealed that she has consistently been in relationships, never experiencing a prolonged period of being single. She recounted a past relationship that, despite her affection for the boy, was fraught with drama and eventually became unhealthy. "I have always had a boyfriend; I have never been in a phase where I was single. I loved this boy, but our relationship was full of drama. It became unhealthy, and we eventually broke up. He became insincere when I became an air hostess, so I had to end the relationship. I tried my best, but now we laugh about it. I had known him since high school," she explained.

Addressing speculation about financial issues contributing to the breakup, Lilian clarified that insecurity, rather than money, was the primary issue. According to her, the ex-boyfriend was insecure, leading to a highly dramatic dynamic. "He had money and provided for us, so it wasn’t about finances. He was just insecure. I was so busy that I never really had time to feel the heartbreak. Not long after that, I got another boyfriend," she added.

Before her high-profile relationship with former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, Lilian also dated a white man. Her seven-year relationship with Mutua ended in June 2021, with both parties announcing the breakup on social media. Following the separation, Lilian resigned from her position as First Lady of Machakos.

Lilian is now married to veteran artiste Juliani, and they have a son named Ntheri. She also disclosed that she had ventured into modeling at one point in her life. "I used to be very quiet, but now I have a son and a legacy to protect, so I have to speak my truth. People don’t really know who I am, but I have been placed in a certain category. I even did modeling in the past," she said, emphasizing her commitment to sharing her experiences openly.

In February 2025, Lilian shared a particularly painful experience on TikTok, revealing that she had been in a toxic and violent relationship. She recounted an incident where her boyfriend physically assaulted her due to perceived interactions with someone else. "I remembered a time in my life when I had a boyfriend who was violent. We were in Westlands, and he concluded that someone was looking at me, and I was looking at them. So, he hit me," she revealed.

Despite the trauma, Lilian offered encouragement to women experiencing gender-based violence, assuring them that they deserve better and that with time, they would find the strength to move forward. "Right now, I am laughing just thinking about that time because it’s a distant memory that has no emotional attachment," she said, highlighting her journey of healing and resilience.
