LG reveals 2025 gram laptops with hybrid AI for portability
LG Electronics has launched its refreshed gram laptop range for 2025, introducing three new models with hybrid artificial intelligence capabilities and a focus on portability.
The 2025 LG gram family comprises the gram Pro 2-in-1 (16T90TP-G), gram (16Z90TL-G and 17Z90TL-G), and gram Book (15U50T-G). Each model brings together lightweight design, enhanced computing power, and new AI features aimed at supporting productivity in a variety of settings.
The updated gram series incorporates a hybrid AI approach.
Two distinct features are introduced: gram chat On-Device and gram chat Cloud. On-Device enables users to process information securely and offline – for example, summarising documents during travel without an internet connection, maintaining privacy as data never leaves the device. Gram chat Cloud, a subscription-based service powered by GPT-40, offers advanced capabilities for tasks such as brainstorming and research when the device is connected to the internet.
Both features are accessed through a familiar chat interface, ensuring continuity in user experience across different usage scenarios.
The laptops also introduce a function called Time Travel, which helps users revisit past documents or web pages efficiently, supporting schedule management and ease of access to information.
"The 2025 LG gram lineup represents a significant step forward for our signature gram line," said Gemma Lemieux, Marketing Director at LG Electronics ANZ. "We've taken the lightweight portability that gram is known for and supercharged it with powerful AI capabilities and the latest Intel processors, delivering an unparalleled experience for users who demand both power and freedom."
The new gram devices are equipped with the latest Intel processors. The gram (16Z90TL-G and 17Z90TL-G) use the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor (Lunar Lake), while the gram Pro 2-in-1 features the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor (Arrow Lake).
This hardware is combined with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and dual M.2 SSD slots for storage capacities of up to 1TB, enabling the machines to tackle tasks requiring speed and responsiveness.
According to the specifications provided, the gram (17Z90TL-G) offers notably improved AI performance, with the Intel Lunar Lake processor offering reportedly more than three times the AI capabilities compared to previous generations. This is aimed at users involved in activities such as video editing, 3D modelling, or gaming, although verified benchmark data from independent testing was not disclosed.
Portability remains central to the gram series. The gram (17Z90TL-G) is 16mm thick and weighs 1.389kg – a weight that may appeal to users looking for larger displays without significant bulk. The gram Pro 2-in-1 (16T90TP-G) features a 360-degree hinge that lets it transition between laptop and tablet modes, complemented by an included stylus, and weighs 1.40kg. The 16Z90TL-G model is even lighter at 1.24kg. The gram Book (15U50T-G), the entry-level model, weighs 1.69kg with an FHD display and an Intel Core i5 processor.
LG gram Link 2.0 allows users to share files and handle calls across multiple devices, including both iOS and Android smartphones.
The hybrid AI features, such as On-Device and Cloud chat, are positioned as tools for streamlining workflows and personalising user experiences. These tools allow for the management of schedules, quick access to past documents, and harnessing AI-driven assistance for daily tasks.
Additional features across the lineup include Windows 11 Home, Intel Arc graphics for the premium models, and high-resolution WQXGA LCD displays (2560x1600) for the Pro 2-in-1 and standard gram models, while the gram Book is fitted with an FHD (1920x1080) display and Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
The 2025 gram range provides various configurations to suit different needs.
The flagship gram Pro 2-in-1 and 17Z90TL-G deliver high specifications, such as substantial RAM, storage options, and Intel's higher-end processors. The new hybrid AI tools blend offline and online capabilities, offering privacy-focused features alongside collaborative, cloud-supported functions when an internet connection is present.
The refreshed LG gram models are designed for users prioritising portability and performance, with specifications aimed at both professional and student markets. LG asserts its continued dedication to combining mobility with increasing intelligence in its devices.
