Lagos partners AfreximBank to train 254 SMEs on export promotion

Lagos State Government, in collaboration with Afreximbank and ImpactHER, yesterday, began a six-week training for about 253 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) towards driving export promotion in the state.

Out of the 253 participants, 20 exceptional SMEs are to be selected after the training to participate in the Intra Africa Trade Fair (IATF) in Algiers, Algeria, in September 2025.

The state’s Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Ambrose, who spoke during the opening ceremony of the export readiness training programme organised by the ministry, in partnership with Afreximbank and ImpactHER at Alausa, Ikeja, said the whole essence is to widen the scope of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state and acknowledge the sector as a powerful tool for economic democratisation.

MEANWHILE, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling traffic congestion across the state through quality road networks.

He stated this yesterday during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (formerly Dopemu Road) in Agege Local Council and Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Sanwo-Olu said the projects were another important step in his administration’s efforts to improve transportation and ease traffic in Lagos. He, however, commended the Public Works team for delivering quality work, calling on residents to applaud their efforts.
