Following the outrage over the demolition of a property reportedly belonging to Peter Obi’s brother, the Lagos State government has swung into action.

The government of Lagos State on Thursday said neither the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) nor any other arm or agency of its government was involved in the process.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State commissioner for Information & Strategy said they are not privy to the alleged demolition.

Omotoso said the Lagos State government would not be swayed by baseless allegations against it or its agencies.

He further noted that the state government has issued a directive to the Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, to request a full investigation by LASBCA into the matter.

The agency is also expected to clarify the said demolition.

“We urge the public to disregard Mr. Peter Obi’s claims and rest assured that the Lagos State Government will continue to work tirelessly to maintain law and order in our great state,” the statement added.

Recall that Obi in a photo post on X, accused the Lagos State government of demolishing his brother’s property without reason or prior notice.

The former governor of Anambra State while reacting to the illegal demolition said Nigeria was drifting into lawlessness.
