Kyrie Irving gutted out 2 Mavericks' free throws after brutal leg injury - Yahoo Sports

Published 2 weeks ago2 minute read

The Dallas Mavericks have had a truly harsh turn with injuries this season and it seems as if Kyrie Irving is yet another name to add to the list.

On Monday, near the end of the first quarter of play between the Mavericks and Sacramento Kings, Irving slipped while making a play towards the basket and fell onto the court clutching his knee. Irving was down at the edge of the court for multiple minutes and he had to be helped up by the trainers due to its severity.

However, Irving didn't immediately get escorted off the court. The trainers helped get Irving up onto his feet before he insisted they move him to the free throw line so he could take his pair of shots. Not only that, Irving made both shots before being helped off the court and into the locker room.

Kyrie Irving was clearly in pain with a leg injury but refused to leave the court before he shot two free throws — similar to his mentor Kobe Bryant.

Anthony Davis was among those who helped Irving off the court and into the locker room.
