Kotoko falls behind in title chase after GoldStars draw
Asante Kotoko’s pursuit of the Ghana Premier League title suffered a setback after they were held to a goalless draw by Bibiani GoldStars in a highly anticipated match.
The stalemate at the Bibiani Park on Sunday means Kotoko are now five points behind leaders Nations FC with just two games remaining.
GoldStars, who were also chasing Nations FC, are three points behind the league leaders after failing to capitalize on the opportunity to close the gap.
Both teams created chances but failed to find the breakthrough in a tightly contested match that was intense from start to finish.
The draw keeps both teams in the title hunt, but they are now reliant on Nations FC slipping up.
The draw means, Kotoko are still unbeaten under their new interim manager Karim Zito after five matches ( three wins and two draws).
Kotoko’s path to salvaging their title hopes seems increasingly challenging, with tough fixtures against Medeama and Vision FC looming.
GoldStars, on the other hand, face Berekum Chelsea and Accra Lions in their final two matches.
