Wanyama said the committee is hands-on and from the previous experience that they have had, they cannot wait to be advised in parliament but to witness for themselves the progress of the construction on the ground.

The Ministry of Sports promised them of their readiness saying by next week once the down-payment is effected to the contractor then there will be some reasonable progress in the stadium.

He said the contractor has given them 15 months to complete the stadiums.

Wanyama noted it is a project that started a long time ago and are disappointed that not much has been done and have now put the Ministry of Sports and Culture on notice to meet the dateline

He said if the timeliness are not met, he said heads will roll since they cannot continue doing things haphazardly and not committing to what was supposed to be delivered.

He argued that Kipchoge stadium holds so many athletes and if it is not put to good use and its construction hastened, there will be a lot of injustices to them.

"We will be doing a lot of disservice to them and Kenyans at large if we continue derailing completion, " added Wanyama.

The Ministry of Defence oversees the construction stadium. The contractor explained to the committee that there was a delay in funding.

Wanyama said they will be traversing across the country inspecting the progress of the construction of stadiums in Kenya.

"If that will not have happened, thus Committee then we shall do what we shall do as mandated by the constitution of this country to see that if there is any incompetence then we shall deal with it decisively," added Wanyama.

The committee will also inspect Bukhungu and Masinde Muliro in Kanduyi.

"That gives us the reasonable doubt...we have got to get there and witness the progress other than the figures we are given and the theories given when we summon them to us to give progress report."

They assured the public of pushing for the completion of the stadia under construction.

"That contractor has the capacity to move on his own and that is why he has been given an advantage over the others so that he doesn't really have to wait to be funded before he progresses his work. We will interrogate," he said.

Kipchoge Stadium hosted Rio trials in 2016 and has been under construction for quite a while.

earlier reported that Kenyan President William Ruto inspected Kipchoge Keino Stadium in January.

Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya walked around the stadium to witness the progress.
