Kiambu Mum Breaks Down as Son with Autism Vanishes after Church Service: "Bursary Imelipwa"
"I was informed he entered a Latema Travels bus. He was running towards the bus as though he was in a hurry. He found a crowd of passengers waiting for a means of transport and he boarded the bus. The bus did not have a conductor," Monicah Wanjiku painfully shared.
The heartbroken mother said the pain of not knowing her son's whereabouts has affected her mentally and drained her emotionally.
She highlighted it has been difficult for her to resume work as she commits all her time, energy and effort in searching for her son.
"Since the disappearance of my son, I do not go to work. Whenever I go to the roadside, or I go to town, I am always wishing to see or bump into him in the streets. I always wish to meet him even in children's homes," Wanjiku said as tears freely flowed down her cheeks.
Kithuri's grandparents shared they were weighed down by the disappearance of their grandson as they spoke highly of him.
"He was very smart. He memorised everything because you may think he does not understand things but later you hear him recite them alone. He loves to sing and stay with other kids. He is not a troublemaker. This incident has broken my heart because of the way we lived with him under one roof. He would bring himself home from church without any supervision," Anne Muigai, Kithuri's grandma faintly said.
Joseph Karuri, Kithuri's grandfather said the family has endured tough moments since the young boy's disappearance.
Karuri said over the weeks the family has visited hospitals and police stations in search of the kin.
"We were very close with the boy. He loves playing. Whenever I got home in the evening, he always wanted to play with me. I lack sleep at night when I think of him," he said.
Wanjikuh highlighted that her son's school bursary had been paid, but it was unfortunate he was missing and not going to school.
The family pleaded with Kenyans to help them track down their kin and reunite with him.
In another story, the family of 14-year-old Blessings Wambugu Nderitu from Kiambu county could finally breathe easy after he was found alive.
Blessings went missing on January 20, 2025, after returning from school, changing into home clothes before disappearing without a trace.
Philanthropist Mercy Nungari told that the young boy was saved by street children in the Nairobi CBD.
