Residents claimed there are growing security concerns in the area, urging the government to take swift action to address the ongoing incidents.

The discovery was made early in the morning when James Munyiri, a local diver, was alerted by a group of young men who were exercising by the dam.

According to Munyiri, the body was in good condition, with no obvious signs of injury except for the damage inflicted by waterborne insects.

"I am a diver in Rungiri Dam. A group of young men were exercising and then told me that there was a body in the dam. It was 6am I went and confirmed that there was someone and then called the OCS. The OCS came, and we were able to get the body out," Munyiri said.

Munyiri explained that all indications pointed to the man, who he estimated to be in his mid-30s, had jumped to his death.

Despite the apparent lack of foul play, residents are left in shock, unsure of the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

This tragic incident is not an isolated one, with locals disclosing that they are alarmed by the frequency of similar discoveries.

Most of them stated that they fear it may indicate a larger, unresolved issue.

Isabella Wangwe, a resident of Gitaru, described this as an unsettling trend that had plagued the quiet village.

"This is not the first time this has happened to me. It has happened several times with people being retrieved from here. My plea to the government is that there is no security. Then the lighting. You can get something at 9pm and you get scared to pass around this area because there is no security," she intimated.

Amid rising anxiety over public safety, residents are now demanding urgent intervention from the government to not only investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths but also to secure the area.

Sammy Mburu, another concerned resident, has called for increased police presence and even suggested sealing off the dam to prevent further tragedies.

Elsewhere, normal traffic was disrupted along the Thika SuperHighway following the discovery of a body in Ruiru River.

On Wednesday, January 15, the body of an unidentified male was spotted floating under a bridge around Ruiru on Thika Road opposite Astro Petro Station.

The residents were shocked after the diver got hold of the body and discovered that it was a man who was wearing a red sweater, and his hands had been tied together.

In a viral video, agitated area residents could be heard alleging the man might have been abducted elsewhere, killed, and his body dumped in the river.

Police arrived at the scene to cool the tempers before retrieving the body awaiting identification.
