and Horizon film producers have been sued by stunt double over what she alleged to be an “violent, unscripted and unscheduled rape scene” that he directed. In Touch breaks down everything we know about the ongoing lawsuit amid a denial via his attorneys which argue that her shocking claims have “absolutely no merit.”

The plaintiff submitted her complaint in the Superior Court of California for Los Angeles County on May 27, 2025, referencing her time filming Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 in 2023.

LaBella was to stand in for lead actress “during physical scenes” and to do stunts, per a SAG-AFTRA agreement mentioned in the complaint, which prohibits last-minute requests for nudity or simulated sex.

According to the newly filed complaint obtained by In Touch, “Any intimacy scenes filmed in these remote locations and involving Ms. LaBella required the presence of an intimacy coordinator per Ms. Hunt’s contract, to which Plaintiff was a third-party beneficiary.”

LaBella cited a prearranged scene involving Hunt’s character, Juliette, and actor ’s character, Sig, that was filmed on May 1, 2023, that “wrapped” with “no issues.”

LaBella alleged that she returned the next day for a “non-intimate scene” as Hunt’s stunt double. However, Costner was claimed to have added a scene where a second actor, , became aggressive while in character.

“Mr. Ivens was to climb on top of Ms. Hunt, violently raking up her skirt. Defendant Costner, who was present on the set, specifically added this scene, which varied from the scene filmed the day before which had not involved pulling up the actor’s skirt. Moreover, this revised scene is not specified in the assigned call sheet for that day,” LaBella’s complaint stated.

LaBella claimed that after Hunt allegedly refused to do the scene and left the set, Costner asked her to take over “without proper notice, consent, preparation, or appropriate safeguard measures in place.” In Touch should note that Ivens was not listed as a defendant.

“In complete contrast, the previous day’s scene was thoroughly choreographed and rehearsed between stunt coordinator Mr. Allen and Ms. LaBella, to ensure Ms. LaBella was precisely aware of all physicality and knew exactly what to expect during the scene,” LaBella claimed.

She felt the set “should have been closed” but was instead “broadcast publicly on monitors for the entire crew to witness” and furthermore, she stated that “anyone could walk by and observe the scene being performed.”

LaBella said she “experienced shock, embarrassment and humiliation while attempting to process the situation” and had a tearful call with her husband, later flying home for a few days.

She would ultimately return to set to “maintain her professionalism and commitment to her craft” but felt “awkward” around the production team since the energy had seemingly shifted.

“Multiple people apologized to her over the course of days and made excuses for Director Costner, all of which made her feel even more uncomfortable,” the docs alleged.

LaBella is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages and wants a trial by jury.

“The impact of this impromptu work demand on Ms. LaBella has been profound, not only upending a career Ms. LaBella spent years building but leaving her with permanent trauma,” the docs obtained by In Touch stated.

“Had her career not come to an abrupt halt as a result of the events detailed in this Complaint, Ms. LaBella’s projected income would have been substantially higher in the coming year, especially with some major projects in which she had been cast as stunt woman being released, thereby further increasing her visibility and reputation within the industry.”

Costner’s attorney told People the actor-director “always wants to make sure that everyone is comfortable working on his films and takes safety on set very seriously” in a statement on May 28, 2025, claiming LaBella is a “serial accuser” and her claims are “completely contradicted by her own actions — and the facts.”

She is accused of resorting to “shakedown tactics” and it was argued that she approved the scene after rehearsing it with another actor, giving her stunt coordinator a “thumbs up.”

Singer, who represents all production companies listed as defendants in the case, said LaBella was “in good spirits” after the alleged unscripted scene and even sent a text message to the stunt coordinator expressing gratitude for the opportunity.

“The facts are clear and we are beyond confident that Kevin will prevail,” Singer stated.
