Keta: Reclaimed land committee requests information from public

Keta (VR), May 23, GNA – The Seven Member committee inaugurated by Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, to investigate reclaimed land issues at Keta has requested the public to provide necessary information that could help speed investigations.
The committee said the move would enable them to complete their investigations within the stipulated period for the progress and development of the Municipality.
A press statement released and signed by Mr Innocent Gavuah, Municipal Coordinating Director, on Thursday, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, disclosed that committee would carefully study all pieces of information provided for necessary actions.
“The investigative committee set by Regional Minister on Keta reclaimed land has started it work and has begun receiving vital information on lease or sale, development among other of the reclaimed land,” it stated.
Mr Gavuah also explained that in order to complete investigation works within the stipulated time, the committee has directed that all persons and groups or associations that have further information about the reclaimed land issues should carefully write it, seal it into envelope and address it to the chairman of the investigative committee and drop it at the office of the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Wisdom Seade.
It continued that all information should be brought within working hours from Thursday, May 22 to Thursday, June 5, to help speed investigation as well as resolve all speculations and allegations about the reclaimed land.
“The committee would carefully study the information provided and would then invite individuals or groups who provided the information should the need be.”
The committee further pledged that the privacy of all that would provide any information about the lease or sale of the reclaim would be protected and treated as confidential to avoid any unnecessary tension and dispute.
Dr Joe Attipoe, the Chairman of the committee in an earlier interview with the Ghana News Agency, during the inauguration ceremony held at the Keta municipal assembly hall, promised that they would work diligently to honour the confidence reposed on them for the success of the municipality.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, inaugurated a seven- member committee to spearhead investigation into the Keta reclaimed land issues after numerous speculations and allegations from the public about how individuals and developers acquired the land.
The committee members include Dr Joe Attipoe, a lawyer and chairman of the committee; Mr Gilbert Kwabla Quashie, a Land Commissioner; Togbi Dallah Anini IV, an educationist; Dr
Stanislaus Yaw Adiaba, land economist and lecturer; Mr Wonder Japheth Sallah, surveyor; Ms Marry Agbemava, an auditor, and Mr Wisdom Agbo.
Information the GNA gathered revealed that the committee commenced its work on Tuesday, May 13 and is expected to conclude the investigation and present s report on June 13, 2025
