This recognition highlights Radido’s exceptional service and leadership in youth development on a global scale.
Radido, alongside his colleague Anthony Gitonga, received the award on Thursday, May 15, during the Silver Buffalo Awards Dinner held at Scouting America’s National Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
The Silver World Award is a prestigious accolade presented by Scouting America to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting movement internationally.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Radido expressed his deep gratitude and excitement about receiving this distinguished honour.
He proudly reflected on the company he now keeps as one of only three Kenyans to have ever received the award.
“Anthony and I are humbled to join the ranks of Kenyan leaders Mzee Jomo Kenyatta (1973) and H.E. Daniel arap Moi (1981), the only other recipients of this award from our nation and the African continent. This award is not just a personal honour but a collective effort of all Kenyan Scouts, volunteers, staff, and supporters who have contributed to our mission,” he said.

Established in 1971, the Silver World Award is reserved for exceptional international leaders who demonstrate outstanding service and leadership to youth globally.
It is among the highest honours that Scouting America bestows on individuals outside of the United States who have significantly advanced the Scouting movement and positively impacted young people worldwide.
Kenya’s previous recipients of this prestigious award include the country’s first president Jomo Kenyatta, who was honoured in 1973, and the second President, Daniel Arap Moi, who received it in 1981.
Radido and Gitonga now join this elite group, marking a proud moment for Kenyan Scouting and youth development.
Elsewhere, former Grandpa Records CEO Refigah Heviweit (Yusuf Noah) was honoured with the Kwame Nkrumah Medal of Honour in Accra, Ghana.
He is the first Kenyan to earn this prestigious continental award for his contributions to the creative economy.
In a heartfelt acceptance speech, Refigah dedicated the award to the Kibra community and urged Africa to shift from consumption to creation.
