Upon receiving the report, the police spokesperson said the Divisional Police Officer in Suru mobilised a team of officers and local vigilantes to track down the suspects.

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that its operatives killed four suspected kidnappers in the Suru Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement by Nafi’u Abubakar, the command’s spokesperson, the police also recovered a ransom of N3million which the suspects collected from a 60-year-old victim, Umaru Bawa, who was kidnapped on Friday night.

The statement explained that on Friday at approximately 1:45pm, armed men suspected to be kidnappers attacked Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area and abducted Bawa.

Upon receiving the report, the police spokesperson said the Divisional Police Officer in Suru mobilised a team of officers and local vigilantes to track down the suspects.

The pursuit led to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari axis, where security forces engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle.

“Consequently, four of the kidnappers were neutralised, one was arrested with fatal injuries, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds,” Abubakar said.

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, commended the officers for their swift response, resilience, and professionalism in handling the operation.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime in the state and urged residents to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
