NEW DELHI: Karnataka Lokayukta on Tuesday conducted statewide raids targeting multiple government officials accused of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The searches were carried out in Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Anekal, Gadag, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi. The coordinated operation focused on residences, offices, and other premises linked to eight government officials across departments. Those under the scanner include Prakash, assistant engineer at BBMP in Govindraj Nagar, Bengaluru, Dr S Pradeep, associate research director of organic farming, Shivamogga, Latha Mani, accounts officer at the town municipality in Chikkamagaluru, KG Amarnath, chief officer of the town municipality in Anekal, Bengaluru, Dhruvaraj, town police inspector in Gadag, Ashok Vasanad, engineer with the Malaprabha Project in Dharwad, Mallikarjun Alipur, former executive engineer with the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Kalaburagi, and Ramchandra, panchayat development officer in Kalaburagi.

A raid was also conducted at the residence of Ashok Vasanad, who currently serves as chief engineer, Belagavi. Lokayukta officials said Vasanad owns a lavish bungalow in Dharwad, where gold and silver ornaments were recovered.
