Kangana Ranaut Hollywood Debut in 'Blessed Be The Evil'

Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut is set to make her Hollywood debut with a leading role in the horror drama "Blessed Be the Evil." The film, produced by Lions Movies, will feature Ranaut alongside Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in New York. The decision to film in the U.S. was influenced by concerns about potential industry tariffs. Anurag Rudra will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Gatha Tiwary.

The film's plot centers around a Christian couple who, after experiencing a miscarriage, purchase an abandoned farm with a dark past. Their faith is tested by a malevolent presence. Rudra drew inspiration from folklore he heard during his childhood in rural India. He aims to showcase these stories internationally through cinema. Tiwary emphasized the film's suspenseful narrative and its potential for international markets.

Ranaut brings significant star power to the project, having received four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. She is also a filmmaker and a Member of Parliament in India’s Lok Sabha. Her recent directorial effort, "Emergency," saw a worldwide theatrical release. Posey, known for his role in "Teen Wolf," has prior experience in the horror genre. Stallone has appeared in films such as "Reach Me" and "The Gunslingers." The project will be presented to international buyers at the Cannes Film Market.

Ranaut's move into Hollywood marks a significant step in her career. She joins other Bollywood actors who have ventured into Hollywood, such as Irrfan Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. However, Ranaut's role in "Blessed Be the Evil" is notable as she is playing a leading role. Although "Blessed Be the Evil" marks her Hollywood debut, this isn't Ranaut's first venture into the horror genre, having previously starred in the Bollywood horror film Raaz 2 and the Tamil comedy horror film ‘Chandramukhi 2’.
