A young lady who had been separated from her family by her father for many years had returned home.
Mary Kamene was taken to Uganda by her dad at the age of five and never saw her family again.
They left in 1998 when Kamene was only a young girl, and she was raised in a foreign land.
"When I was young, I used to live with my mother, Joyce, and her mother—my grandmother, Kamene. We lived in Njiiru. My father used to visit me, but one day he picked me up and took me to where he stayed in Mathare. From there, he took me to Busia.
He died a year later and left me with his mother. I have been raised by my paternal grandmother in Busia, Uganda," she said.
Kamene longed to reunite with her family and began searching for them online, as she had no idea where they were or how to find them.
Since leaving Nairobi, she had never returned to the capital city, and her memories of it were vague.
"I inboxed Musyi FM and shared my story, and they graciously aired it online. After that, my family found me," she narrated.
Kamene's uncle, Moses Mutuku, shared how he learned about his niece's search for her family through the radio.
He heard an announcement about a missing child, which piqued his interest.
"I began looking for contacts for Musyi FM. The following day, we went to the radio station," Mutuku said.
Christine Ndanu, Head of Radio at Musyi FM, expressed her joy over the reunion that took place after more than two decades.
She visited the family, who reunited after 27 years, to celebrate the emotional and long-awaited homecoming.
Upon reuniting with her loved ones, Kamene was warmly welcomed by her relatives, and they joyfully caught up.
There was pure joy on Kamene's face as she interacted with her family for the first time in many years.
Everyone was overjoyed as they cherished the emotional moment—one none of them ever imagined would come to pass.

In a different but similar story, US-based Kenyan nurse Judy Maina reunited with her family.
The medical practitioner had not seen her loved ones for six months, as she had been away in Los Angeles, California, for work.
She was warmly received by her family, who jumped on her ecstatically when she arrived home.
Her husband embraced her lovingly, picking her up and twirling her around as they shared a beautiful reunion.
