A former Minister of Environment under President Muhammadu Buhari, Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abdullahi, who was initially appointed as Minister of State for Science and Technology before being redeployed as the substantive Minister of Environment, announced his resignation in a letter dated June 1.

The letter, addressed to the APC chairman in his Uke ward, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, and copied to other party officials, cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the ruling party.

He expressed appreciation to the party chairman for the support and cooperation extended to him during his time in the APC, noting that they made modest contributions to the growth of the party in the state.

“I wish you and the party good luck,” the letter added. 

Abdullahi had served a Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Nasarawa State during the administration of Senator Abdullahi Adamu and SSG during Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura’s administration.

It is gathered that the former minister is nursing ambition to be the next Governor of Nasarawa State and is not sure of getting the APC guber ticket.

He is rumoured to be heading to the PDP where he lock horns with the 2023 PDP Governorship candidate in the state, David Umbugadu who is still interested in running and has the structures of the party at his palm, others suggest that he will join the coalition to get a platform to run the for the 2027 Governorship of the State.
