Julia Duggan Named LVC Women's Basketball Head Coach - D3hoops
Pat Ratke, Director of Athletics, has announced Julia Duggan as Head Coach of the Women's Basketball program.
Duggan becomes the 33rd Head Coach of the Dutchmen as the program enters its 112th season in 2025-26. She comes to Annville after three years as an Assistant Coach at Division III powerhouse Christopher Newport University (Virginia). The Captains won three Coast-to-Coast Conference Championships, played in the NCAA Tournament all three years, advancing to the National Championship game in 2023, and had an 84-5 record during her time in Newport News. Last season, CNU finished the season 26-2 and was highly ranked all year before being upset by Montclair State University in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Julia to The Valley," said Ratke. "The search committee was impressed with her playing and coaching experience at high-level institutions, her passion for Division III Athletics and LVC, and her vision for the future of our Women's Basketball program. Julia understands the importance of building relationships with this generation of student-athletes and providing a first-class experience, while creating a competitive level of excellence to ensure the program's success. She has proven herself as a talented recruiter, and her ability to develop our student-athletes holistically, preparing them for the rest of their lives, aligns with LVC's mission, vision, and values."
Before Christopher Newport, Duggan began her coaching career at Endicott College (Massachusetts) as an Assistant Coach of the Gulls for three years. She helped the Gulls win the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference title and then upset national power University of Scranton in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Christopher Newport during the 2019-20 season.
"I am incredibly honored and grateful to Athletic Director Patrick Ratke and Associate Athletic Director Stacey Hollinger for the opportunity to lead Lebanon Valley College's Women's Basketball program," Duggan stated. "I'm excited to join a community with such a strong tradition of academic and athletic excellence. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes and helping them grow on and off the court. It's a privilege to be part of the Flying Dutchmen family, and I can't wait to get started."
Duggan is a 2017 graduate of Rider University (New Jersey) with a Public Relations degree. She was a four-year member of the Broncs Women's Basketball team, earning All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Third team honors, and Second Team All-MET honors, and being named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team as a senior. She finished her career with 1,003 points and 834 rebounds while playing a program record 124 games. Duggan spent two years after college playing professionally in Europe. She spent a year in Germany playing for TG Neuss Tigers and then played a season in France for CJS Geispolsheim.
