On Monday, May 12, the communications strategist posted a video of Jakes packing up household items with the help of movers.

The young man stood with a paper and pen, signing off on the things he wanted from his mother's house, including a couch.

Joyce walked up to her son and asked,

"So, you have decided?"

Jakes responded in the affirmative, saying,

"Yes, I have taken all the things I need."

The doting mother wondered whether Jakes would leave anything for her or was moving out with everything.

"Isn't that my bedroom TV?" she asked as the movers carried it outside.

Jakes said that he was moving to a less posh area, as his mother stays in Kilimani.

"Somewhere where I can see a mama mboga."

The media personality told him,

"You have left the house with almost everything, but I bless you."
"Continue blessing me. I am going to be a star boy," he said.

In the caption, Joyce said that she would be visiting her son while admitting it was hard remaining alone in the house.

“My late mother used to tell us, if anyone wants to move out, let them. My dear son, my last born, I bless you as you go to start a new life away from mummy. When you see me at your door, I miss you, and I just want to find out how you're doing. Now, let me deal with the empty nest.”

Netizens reacted to the video by saying:

Purity Nduta Macharia:

"Can Jake marry my relative already? I want this guy in my family."

Hellen Njoroge:

“An empty nest is always emotional, mixed feelings, anxiety, feeling like you want him with you forever.”

Nzoloa Margaret:

“How many times has this guy moved out?”

Kate Waithombe:

“I don't want to imagine an empty nest. It must be hard.”

Ñī Lœrãh:

“Jakes is always funny.”

Brian Osage:

“I just admire this kind of parent-child relationship. I pray that I become the best father to my unborn children.”

Jakes is quickly making a name for himself in radio, thanks to his strong voice, natural ability, and energetic presence on air.

In 2024, he advanced to become the Drive Show host at Homeboyz Radio, succeeding Kerry Martin, who left after nearly 10 years.

His rise followed the impressive ratings of his evening show, and he had been with the station for just a year.

When discussing how he sets himself apart in a competitive industry, he credited his achievements to consistent prayer and a strong commitment to hard work.
