Joho reveals details of his meeting with Danish minister Morten Bodskov

Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has revealed the details of his meeting with Danish Minister of Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs Morten Bodskov.
Taking to his official X account on Saturday, May 17, 2025, Joho stated that he had been hosted by Bodskov in Copenhagen, where they discussed issues of mutual benefit between Kenya and Denmark.
According to Joho, their discussion focused on the strategic cooperation in the maritime sector, the vital importance of green shipping, and the commercial opportunities available for investment.
“I was honored to be hosted by the Danish Minister of Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, Hon. Morten Bodskov, in Copenhagen, where we discussed issues of mutual benefit between our two nations. Our discussion took stock of the strategic cooperation in the maritime sector, the vital importance of green shipping, and the commercial opportunities available for investment,” Joho stated.

The former Mombasa County governor went ahead to hail Denmark’s record in the shipping industry, which he says boasts a fleet of over 4500 vessels of both national and international cargo ships, passenger liners, and fishing vessels.
During their meeting, Joho says they had also committed to strengthening the two nations’ existing partnership, particularly in the areas of maritime education and training, sustainable shipping practices, and port infrastructure development.

Joho was accompanied to the meeting by the Director of Maritime from the State Department of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Julius Segera.
The CEO of Kenya National Shipping Line, Abdallah Hatimy, and the Charge d’Affaires in Stockholm, Nathan Taama, also joined the meeting.

“We committed to strengthening our existing partnership, particularly in the areas of maritime education and training, sustainable shipping practices and port infrastructure development. I was accompanied by Mr Julius Segera, the Director of Maritime from the State Department of Shipping and Maritime Affairs; Abdallah Hatimy, the CEO of Kenya National Shipping Line; and the Charge d’Affaires in Stockholm, Nathan Taama,” Joho’s statement read.
