John Methu: Viral Men-Only Barber Mwende Offers Nyandarua Senator Free Haircut, Massage
One of the photos caught the attention of Mwende, who wrote:
“Methu’s hair will give me high blood pressure.”
Mwende offered to travel to Nyandarua using her own money to shave the legislator and also give him a massage. Speaking to .co.ke, the entrepreneur running Man’s Chamber barbershop said she was concerned by his appearance.
“We started extending the offer to John Methu after seeing a picture of him, and someone suggested how handsome he would look if the hair was worked on a bit. He likes his hair rugged, so we would not shave it all, just give it a little trim and untangle the ends,” she said.
A determined Mwende said that she is yet to get a response from Methu but will keep tagging him until he accepts the offer.
The businesswoman insisted on the importance of public image.

“It plays a huge role in how people perceive you. Hairstyles create some form of identity, and it is good to switch up your styles once in a while. It makes them look younger and self-aware. Public figures should practice self-care and spare time for self care. Weekly massages, sauna, or steam bath sessions are good for the body and the mind.”
Mwende noted that she had previously extended the offer to other leaders.
“Everyone deserves to be pampered, including religious, youth, and political leaders. We noticed that these are some of the most stressed people, and you can even feel their stress in their muscles during massages.”
What sets Mwende’s barbershop apart from others in the area?
“We are different because we are truly committed to men’s wellness. To us, it’s not just a business; we are not after your money, we want to help men.”
Mwende noted that the major challenge she faces at the moment is people spending less on self-care because of harsh economic times.
“We were also bullied and misjudged when we started the business, but we have seen similar establishments coming up, and that makes us proud.”
She touted her establishment as the first barbershop in Kenya with female barbers who only serve men.
“My goal was to normalize self-care for men all over Kenya, and I can proudly say that I did it.”
In other news, Mwende introduced the female staff at her barbershop.
They were all dressed in black outfits inside a massage room.
She urged men to choose their preferred attendants and pledged complimentary massages for ten selected participants.
