Jet Brought Their Get Born Tour To Olympia Theatre In Montreal
Band of Skulls, an alternative rock band from the early 2000s, hailing from Southampton, England, fronted by Russell Marsden, set the tone during their opening set. It took the heavy-hitting alternative rock band a few songs to really hit their stride as the venue was filling up. Once they had the crowd with them, they kept the intensity high by treating the audience to fan favourites and starting the set with “Sweet Sour,” “Friends” and "Rip It Up." Band of Skulls were the perfect way to start the night.

This is Jet's 20th anniversary tour of their iconic debut album, Get Born (2004). Two more studio albums followed: Shine On (2006) and Shaka Rock (2009), before the band went on a lengthy hiatus. Now they are back, and fans are eager to hear that early 2000s garage rock vibe.
At 9:05 PM, the music that was playing over the speakers at the Olympia Theatre stopped and the crowd erupted when Jet walked onto the stage. Nic Cester, wearing a white shirt and black and white striped pants, strolled to center stage. He picked up his Gibson guitar and kicked off the set with the album's first song, “Last Chance,” followed by "Money Mouth" and "She's A Genius."
The music came at a fast pace. The fans knew what was coming next, as the band played the Get Born album in its entirety and sequentially off the record. "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" is the song that made Jet internationally famous. The venue went wild when the song started, and Nic let the fans sing the first verse. As the song was finishing, Nic hopped onto the bass drum to finish off the song and lead into the next song "Rollover DJ."
There was an encore, but the whole band didn't leave the stage. Nic remained and thanked everyone for spending the night with them after two decades away from Montreal, then played an acoustic version of "Shine On" before the rest of the band returned. Jet gave us three final songs to complete the night: "Move On," "That’s All Lies/Take It or Leave It," and for the final song, a rendition of AC/DC’s "Long Way To The Top." These songs were performed with somehow even more energy than the rest of the night.
Overall, it was a night to remember for fans of early 2000s rock. Jet showed they still have the fire and the passion to bring their classic album to life, and the audience's enthusiasm proved that Montreal is always ready to welcome them back with open arms.
