After delivered a showstopping performance at the 2025 American Music Awards, she finally revealed how she got injured during rehearsals.
The 55-year-old singer-songwriter hosted the award show in Las Vegas on Monday, May 26, and gave a seven-minute medley performance. She danced to songs from artists across genres, including , , , and more. Lopez spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the annual star-studded event about the self-inflicted facial injury she got while rehearsing the number.
“It cost me three stitches,” the Grammy nominee admitted. “I did it in the finale part when Kendrick is saying [they not like us]. I literally slammed my own face into my own knee.”

The Unstoppable actress explained that the dance move got cut from the final performance as she didn’t want to risk getting hurt.
“We had to change it because I didn’t trust myself to do it again without smashing my face again,” she told the outlet.
Earlier this month, Lopez posted a selfie on her Instagram Story of herself icing her nose, writing, “So… this happened.” In a second snap, she showed off a cut on her nose and explained she got injured during AMA’s rehearsal.
In a separate Instagram Story, she praised her plastic surgeon, Jason Diamond for helping her recover. “Thanks for stitching me up Dr. Diamond,” she captioned a photo of the pair. “A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
Injury aside, the “Let’s Get Loud” hitmaker gave her all onstage, even sharing a kiss with two of her background dancers during Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.”
In the same interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lopez opened up about the steamy moment.
“It was fun. There was a whole narrative to the whole performance, but it was beautiful,” she remarked. “And it’s always about love. It’s always about finding your way and remembering who you are.”
The Monster in Law actress also announced her Las Vegas residency Monday. She posted the news on Instagram for her 248 million followers.
