Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics guard, criticized Nike and Adidas, speaking negatively about them in his latest interview with Sports Illustrated.
Brown touched on how young talents take their first steps in basketball and how that relates to the issue at hand.

“I think these companies have too much control over basketball. In youth categories, kids focus on performing well only at camps organized by Adidas and Nike… But in reality, they should be working on their basketball skills,” the American emphasized.
He continued in the same tone.
“We focus too much on brands, and I think that’s why the rest of the world has caught up in basketball. If we don’t do something about it, there could be a shift in the basketball hierarchy as soon as the next Olympic Games.”
When asked whether Nike influenced his decision not to play in Paris last season, Brown responded briefly.
“Of course,” he stated firmly.
Whether Nike had a say in team selection or not, one fact remains – Team USA won gold.
