Jaxson Dart appears to throw shade at Shedeur Sanders - 'You better be prepared' - NewsBreak

The New York Giants surprised many on draft night when they opted to go with Jaxson Dart over Shedeur Sanders, and Dart appears to have thrown shade at the former Colorado quarterback while hinting on why that decision was made.

Sanders had come into the draft as one of the best quarterback prospects available, something Mirror US Sports had been in agreement with many draft analysts on, alongside the likes of Dart and Cam Ward. The Titans opted to go with Ward with the first overall pick, with Sanders expected to be the next quarterback taken. But the Giants instead drafted Dart late in the first round, with Sanders being made to wait until the fifth in an almighty fall.

Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe and Dillon Gabriel were all selected ahead of Sanders, with reports emerging as to why he had fallen as far as he had, with reports of interviews not going as well as teams would have liked.

After appearing on Hard Knocks in the 2024 offseason, Giants head coach Brian Daboll's meeting with quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye had been recorded - as he grilled the prospects with difficult questions on what they would do in certain situations on the field.

Sanders had a meeting similar to this the following year, with multiple reports suggesting that interview did not go well for Sanders, with Dart having words on this.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Dart said: "Yeah, you better be prepared going to do a Daboll meeting, because it’s intense. He definitely wants to get the most out of you.

"I would say, if you’re not prepared, don’t step into the meeting, because you’re going to get grilled. So they threw all that they could at me, and I was able to handle it the best way that I could."

Indeed, Dart's meeting with the Giants has now been shown by the team's social media, with him looking to have had impressed - potentially being a big reason as to why the team traded back into the first-round to select him.

On Sanders interview with the Giants, multiple reports had flown around that the quarterback had struggled. One assistant coach had said: "The worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life. He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates, but the biggest thing is, he’s not that good."

Meanwhile, The Ringer's Todd McShay had also reported something similar, stating that his interview with the Giants had not gone well.

Sanders was eventually selected by the Cleveland Browns, where he'll join the aforementioned Gabriel in a battle to make the roster, with Joe Flacco said to be the starter heading into the year.
