Japan - SunRockers-add-Welsh-to-their-roster
Sunrockers Shibuya added 29-year-old American center Thomas Welsh to their roster for the new 2025-26 season. Welsh, who stands at 213cm and weighs 111kg, played for Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo for the last two years. In 60 B1 League games in Japan, he recorded 10.3ppg, 13.6rpg (leader!!!), and 1.3apg last season.
In 2018, he was drafted by the Denver Nuggets (NBA) in the second round (58th overall). He graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, and it is his eighth season in pro basketball.
Welsh represented the USA at the World Championship U19 in Heraklion (Greece) ten years ago. Welsh's team won Gold, and he averaged almost 3 points per game.
He is a very experienced player. His career allowed him to travel to three different continents, playing in six different countries. He has played professionally in Belgium (Oostende), Taiwan (Kings), NBA (Charlotte Hornets), NBA G League (Greensboro Swarm), and The Basketball Tournament (Living the Dream). He experienced life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, and North America.
In addition to making it to the Taiwanese PLeague+ Semifinals in 2022, he was also part of the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team and was selected to play in the Reese's College All-Star Game during his college career in 2018.
