j-hope and GloRilla's 'Killin It Girl' Wins Fan Vote for Favorite New Music

The collaboration between BTS member j-hope and Memphis MC GloRilla, titled “Killin It Girl,” has emerged as the top choice in Billboard’s latest new music poll. Released on Friday, June 13, the track garnered an overwhelming 87% of the vote from music fans, significantly surpassing other new releases from artists such as Lil Tecca, Mark Ronson and RAYE, Zara Larsson, Brandon Lake, and Gunna. Lil Tecca’s fifth album, Dopamine, came in third with nearly 1% of the vote, while the “other” category secured second place with 10%.

“Killin It Girl” is characterized by its captivating hip-hop flow, which effectively conveys the powerful and enchanting pull of love at first sight. GloRilla embodies the persona of an irresistible “baddie” on the track, delivering lines like, “He said I be killin’ it, I said I do this everyday,” reinforcing the song’s lust-filled theme.

This new single marks another highlight in what has been a dynamic year for the K-pop superstar. Prior to “Killin It Girl,” j-hope released successful tracks such as “Sweet Dreams,” featuring Miguel, and “Mona Lisa.” In a May interview with Billboard, j-hope described “Sweet Dreams” as having a “smooth, soulful vibe that feels deeply personal,” while noting that “Mona Lisa” showcases a “hip-hop-driven performance energy.” He further explained that both tracks are easily relatable and offer a glimpse into the “broader, more evolved musical world” he is constructing, emphasizing that these releases are merely the beginning of his musical explorations.

Beyond his recent musical releases, j-hope also concluded his “HOPE ON THE STAGE” tour. The North American leg of the tour included a pair of sold-out concerts at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in March. He wrapped up the global trek with a final performance on Friday, June 13, at South Korea’s Goyang Stadium, bringing a busy period of touring and new music to a close.
